Bruno Carnide 1

Bruno Carnide, nominated twice for the Sophia Awards of the Portuguese Film Academy, is an independent portuguese director and founding director of Leiria Film Fest – International Short Film Festival, since 2013.
He has directed fiction, animation and documentary short films, which won dozens awards and have been exhibited in hundreds film festivals around the world, including qualifying festivals for the Oscars and European Film Awards.
With a Specialist Title in Film Production, Bruno Carnide is a lecturer in the field of Cinema at Polytechnic of Leiria (Portugal).
He was curator at Museum of the Moving Image (Portugal), between 2022 and 2024, and is frequently a member of the jury at International Film Festivals.
As a freelancer, Bruno Carnide has directed hundreds of corporate and commercial videos for companies such as Google, Volkswagen, Ford, MTV, Nickelodeon, RTP or Schweppes.
His filmography includes the short films “Memories of an Empty House” (2023), “Fled. Lay. Fell.” (2017), both shot on 8mm film, and the animated short film “The Flight of the Manta Rays” (2021).
Throughout his career he has received awards at festivals such as Tirana (Albania), Medina del Campo (Spain), Cinema on the Bayou (USA), São Tomé FestFilm (Sao Tome and Principe), New Talents FNAC (Portugal), ShortCutz (Portugal ), CinEuphoria (Portugal) or Ymotion (Portugal); as well as international selections in ZINEBI (Spain), InterFilm Berlin (Germany), Huesca (Spain), Izmir (Turkey), CineLebu (Chile) or St. Louis (U.S.A.) and in Portuguese festivals such as IndieLisboa, Cinanima, Monstra, FEST, Caminhos do Cinema Português or Avanca. Nomeado duas vezes aos Prémios Sophia da Academia Portuguesa de Cinema, Bruno Carnide é um realizador independente e director-fundador do Leiria Film Fest – Festival Internacional de Curtas-Metragens, desde 2013.
Realizou curtas-metragens de ficção, animação e documentário que venceram mais de quarenta prémios e foram exibidas em centenas de festivais de cinema em todo o mundo, incluindo festivais qualificadores aos Oscars e Prémios Europeus.
Com Título de Especialista em Produção Cinematográfica, Bruno Carnide é docente na área de Cinema no Politécnico de Leiria (Portugal).
Foi curador do Museu da Imagem em Movimento (Portugal), entre 2022 e 2024, e é frequentemente membro do júri em Festivais Internacionais de Cinema.
Como freelancer, Bruno Carnide realizou centenas de vídeos corporativos e comerciais para empresas como Google, Volkswagen, Ford, MTV, Nickelodeon, RTP ou Schweppes.
Da sua filmografia destacam-se as curtas-metragens “Memórias de uma Casa Vazia” (2023), “Fugiu. Deitou-se Caí.” (2017), ambas filmadas em película 8mm, e a curta-metragem de animação “O Voo das Mantas” (2021).
Ao longo do seu percurso recebeu prémios em festivais como Tirana (Albânia), Medina del Campo (Espanha), Cinema on the Bayou (E. U.
