Bruno Carnide (Leiria, 1987) is an independent film director and producer.
He has directed fiction, animation and documentary short films that have won over forty awards and have been selected at hundreds of film festivals around the world, including Oscar qualifying festivals.
From his filmography, the live action short film “Fled. Lay. Fell.” (2017) stands out, which won 12 Awards and was selected for more than 40 film festivals, including the Festival de Cine de Huesca (Spain) and Festival de Cine de Lebu (Chile), both Oscar qualifiers.
In 2019, he made his first animated short film “Equinox” (2019) and later “The Flight of the Manta Rays” (2021), both nominated for the Sophia Awards of the Portuguese Film Academy, and with selections in Portuguese festivals such as IndieLisboa. , Cinanima, Monstra, FEST, National Animation Award or Caminhos do Cinema Português.
Throughout his journey, several interviews and film screenings on television stand out; prizes at festivals such as Medina del Campo (Spain), Cinema on the Bayou (USA), New Talents FNAC (Portugal), ShortCutz (Portugal), Manifest (Portugal) CinEuphoria (Portugal) or Ymotion (Portugal); as well as selections at InterFilm Berlin (Germany), St. Louis International Film Festival (USA), Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival (Belgium) or Avanca (Portugal) and screening at the Institute of Contemporary Art in London (England).
In 2013 founded Leiria Film Fest – International Short Film Festival, of which he is director and programmer. Since 2017, he has been a university professor in the field of cinema at the Polytechnic of Leiria and Instituto Superior Miguel Torga. In 2022, he was appointed cinema curator at the Museum of Moving Image in Leiria (Portugal).
He is occasionally a jury member at international film festivals such as Tirana International Film Festival (Albania), a festival that qualifies for Oscars and European Awards, Festival de Cine Piélagos (Spain), São Tomé FestFilm (Saint Tomas and Prince), FEST – New Directors New Films Festival (Portugal), Ymotion (Portugal), Planos Film Fest (Portugal), among others.
As an independent worker, he has made hundreds of institutional, corporate and other videos for companies such as Google, RTP, Volkswagen, Ford, MTV, Nickelodeon or Schweppes.(en)

Bruno Carnide (Leiria, 1987) é um realizador e produtor de cinema independente.
Realizou curtas-metragens de ficção, animação e documentário que venceram mais de quarenta prémios e foram selecionadas em centenas de festivais de cinema em todo o mundo, incluindo festivais qualificadores aos Oscars.
Da sua filmografia destaca-se a curta-metragem em imagem real “Fugiu. Deitou-se. Caí.” (2017), que venceu 12 Prémios e foi selecionada para mais de 40 festivais de cinema, incluindo o Festival de Cine de Huesca (Espanha) e Festival de Cine de Lebu (Chile), ambos qualificadores aos Oscars.
Em 2019, realizou a sua primeira curta-metragem de animação “Equinox” (2019) e mais tarde “O Voo das Mantas” (2021), ambas Nomeadas aos Prémios Sophia da Academia Portuguesa de Cinema, e com seleções em festivais portugueses como IndieLisboa, Cinanima, Monstra, FEST, Prémio Nacional da Animação ou Caminhos do Cinema Português.
Ao longo do seu percurso, destacam-se várias entrevistas e exibições de filmes em televisão; prémios em festivais como Medina del Campo (Espanha), Cinema on the Bayou (E. U. A.), Novos Talentos FNAC (Portugal), ShortCutz (Portugal), CinEuphoria (Portugal) ou Ymotion (Portugal); bem como seleções no InterFilm Berlin (Alemanha), St. Louis International Film Festival (E. U. A.), Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival (Bélgica) ou Avanca (Portugal) e exibição no Instituto de Arte Contemporânea em Londres (Inglaterra).
Em 2013 fundou o Leiria Film Fest – Festival Internacional de Curtas-Metragens, do qual é director e programador. Desde 2017, é professor universitário na área do cinema no Politécnico de Leiria e Instituto Superior Miguel Torga. Em 2022, foi nomeado curador de cinema no Museu da Imagem em Movimento de Leiria.
É, ocasionalmente, jurado em festivais internacionais de cinema como o Tirana International Film Festival (Albânia), festival que qualifica aos Oscars e Prémios Europeus, Festival de Cine Piélagos (Espanha), São Tomé FestFilm (São Tomé e Príncipe), FEST – New Directors New Films Festival (Portugal), Ymotion (Portugal), Planos Film Fest (Portugal), entre outros.
Enquanto trabalhador independente, realizou centenas de vídeos institucionais, corporativos e outros, para empresas como a Google, RTP, Volkswagen, Ford, MTV, Nickelodeon ou Schweppes. (pt)
